Legends of Eckington
A number of our talented swimmers have progressed from our club onto Elite swimming pathways provided by Derventio EXcel and the City Of Sheffield Swimming Club. Often swimmers that move onto this pathway choose to remain in close contact with their home club. These swimmers still represent our club at team galas and some open meets. They provide our younger developing swimmers with a goal to aspire to. They can often be seen helping in the learner pool with the learner groups and putting in the odd shift as a life guard.
For our younger swimmers it is hard to imagine a life after swimming, but in time it happens as swimmers get older some move onto University or onto their chosen career. A few still like to be involved and join our masters squads or give something back to the club and train as a coach.
Eleanor is a National Para swimmer who is based in the North West but who has been a member of Eckington Swimming Club and trained with our A squad for several months.
Eleanor recently competed at the Cerebral Palsy National Swimming Championships in Nottingham and won Gold in 50 and 100 Fly.
We are all very proud of Eleanor and all she has achieved. We will be watching to see how she does at upcoming competitions.
